Podcasts

I’m a co-host of the NüVoices podcast, a biweekly show featuring interviews with women and gender minorities working on China related topics. Since we launched in Beijing in 2021, the podcast has been downloaded more than 40,000 times. The show is a part of NüVoices collective, a US-based non-profit with chapters across the world including in Britain, where I serve as head of the London chapter. You can listen to all of the episodes here.

Documentaries

I love exploring new and creative forms of storytelling. In recent years, I’ve worked on investigative documentaries as a multimedia reporter, producer, narrator, presenter, translator, fixer and researcher. I’ve worked on video and audio projects with the BBC World Service, Channel 4 News, the South China Morning Post and more.

Following the detention of China’s prominent #MeToo journalist Sophia Huang Xueqin in 2021, I reported, narrated and co-produced the BBC Eye documentary “China’s Silenced Feminist” investigating her “disappearance.” Watch the above film on YouTube or BBC iPlayer (UK access). As the space for gender activism continues to shrink, I executive-produced, reported and narrated the short documentary “China’s Feminist Fightback,” which explains the country’s dynamic feminist movement. The film appears on the Channel 4 News show “Uncovered” and is available on Facebook Watch.

When racist attacks against East and Southeast Asians spiked globally following the outbreak of Covid-19, I pitched, led and co-produced an investigation into such hate crimes in the UK. I collected more than 300 testimonies from East and Southeast Asians, primarily of Chinese descent, across the country and appeared live on air at Channel 4 News to discuss my findings.

During the peak of Hong Kong’s 2019 pro-democracy protests, I also co-produced an investigation revealing how Chinese and Hong Kong students at British universities faced threats and intimidation for supporting the movement. Watch the exclusive report on Channel 4 News.
